Best way to preserve flowers during a drive?

I'm going on a four hour trip with a friend of mine tomorrow and we're driving back to her house--thing is, I have a bouquet of flowers saved for her birthday and want to give them to her when she picks me up. Would they be okay sitting in the backseat in the heat, or what kind of measures should I take to keep them from getting ruined during the drive?

You can put a small amount of water in a Ziplock type of bag. A little will do. Put the flowers into the bag and put a rubberband around it Set the bag with the flowers in a heavy upright pot and set the whole thing on the floor of the car. The flowers should stay fresh.
Reply:Keep them secure in the FRONT seat where they are closer to the air conditioner. Flowers kept in the hot back seat will wither and wilt. Make sure they are freshly cut and well-watered.
Reply:Wrap the flowers loosely in plastic wrap then

put then in a cooler. This will keep them nice and fresh. Good luck.
Reply:Ice water. I took flowers from Las Vegas to Phoenix in beer buckets full of ice water, packed in a box so they wouldn't fall over. They lasted for days after that!
