What does it mean when you send a girlfriend lilies for her birthday?

I have been dating this girl for a while now and her birthday is coming up and I recently found out she likes flowers but she advised me that they all mean something. So I found a bouquet of white roses and white lilies i thought about getting her and was wondering the meaning behind it.

What does it mean when you send a girlfriend lilies for her birthday?
I would go for something with red or pick roses if its your girlfriend...White is more for friendship....

Reply:Hi Pet myself personally i don't like lillies they represent death to me, i only ever see them at funerals. White roses are purity and innocence and shows a meaning so deep that she might get cold feet and run. She might like flowers but not the expense that is wasted on them, do something that would help someone or something in her name, adopt a puppy or a dolphin.I don't mean to sound senicle but i hate wasting money on things that would only last a couple of days

Reply:my bf call me Lily..for my birthday..he gave me 2dozen of red roses and a white lily in the middle of the bouquet..he said no matter how many roses in this world.but there is only one lily..sweet huh??..:)
Reply:I would be horrified if someone gave me lillies. They are for funerals in my family. Why not go online and type in "Flower meanings"? Pink roses are for love, red roses are for passion and yellow roses are for friendship. How about just buying her favourite flowers instead of worrying about a flower's meaning at this early stage. :-)
