Any suggestions on my baby girls 1st birthday?

My daughter will be 1 on April 1st, and I would like to know what people have done in the past for their daughter's 1st birthday. I am trying to think of something, and all I can think of for decorations is like flowers and a lot of pink lol. HELP!

Any suggestions on my baby girls 1st birthday?
Haha!! I answered your second one before I saw this one :) For my daughters first, we did a very small party at my in-laws house (me, my hubby, my mom, my mother and father and law, and my hubby's grandfather, and his aunt. We took her to Target, and I held up a bunch of different plates (everything ranging from princessess to the movie "cars" plates) Of course I wanted to do it girly, but I figured it didn't matter because babies don't understand gender differences, so I just let her grab the plate that she wanted (I just thought this was a neat idea) which, LUCKILY, it was Tinker Bell :) So I got the decorations to match (napkins, noise blowers ect.) and some balloons and party hats, and her birthday candle. We went to Publix and got her cake made. The good thing about that is they give you the big decorated one (whichever design you pick out) and a seperate small one for the 1st birthday boy or girl :) They decorate it similar to the big cake you order (I actually liked her small one better then the big one :) lol) So they can have their own personal cake to play in, while everyone else can eat the big one. Then we let her open her presents, and we played with her for a little while, and we let her play with all of the balloons we had all over the floor (which she was scared of at first..lol) It was over all very good :) Nothing extravagant, but babies are simple, and they are amazed with things that we don't see as being very special. Also, babies get overwhelmed very easily, and it is best to keep them around familiar things on their birthday to make sure they stay comfortable for their day :) I have pictures of my daughter's 1st b-day on my myspace. The URL is on my answers profile, so if you have a myspace you should check them out :) It is in an album labeled Cami Jade's first birthday I think? Or something to that extent....

Good Luck!! :) It is very exciting!! :)
Reply:For the decorations i think that would work, but maybe you shud add a bit more different colours instead of pink.Or you can celebrate it at a baffe or a good restaurant that you and your family really love. On my 1st birthday my parents brung me to a fine restaurant and invited people we know and close friends and relatives.
Reply:I had a small party (about 12 ppl) in our back yard, I bought my decorations from the dollar store, got a cake and had a cookout. It was really nice and the first birthday is more for the parents then for the child (she isn't going to remember it). As for decorations I just based it all on what I got at the dollar store in total I spent probably about $50 (not counting presents).
Reply:I'm trying to think of something similar for my son's first birthday. Since it is more of a novelty than anything, and mostly for the enjoyment of the adults, I think we are going to plan something small. Depending on the weather we may take his friend who is a few weeks older than he is and her parents to the zoo then have a picnic afterwards. We may also take a trip to the pet store on their adoption day so that he can play with all of the animals. We're planning on having a fruit pizza for a cake and a homemade 'ball pit' in our living room, but we are keeping it pretty small scale.

Mostly I just wanted to answer since my son's birthday is on April 2nd! Depending on what your goal for the party is, there are a few fun things you can do. You can decorate with butterflies to go along with your flowers and pink, along with some lady bugs and such. An activity idea could be to get an inflatable toddler pool (or two if you have lots of kids) and fill them with pillows, blankets, balls, and toys and such and let your baby and her friends crawl in and out and throw all of the toys out.
Reply:big party for the first and a small cake just for her along with the big one
Reply:For my daughters first birthday we just did the girly colors and alot of balloons and she loved every minute of it,Good luck.
Reply:Invite a bunch of family and friends and their kids, have lots of food, and stuff for the kids who come to play with, some beer for the adults... some streamers and what not will do, no worries on making it wild and extravagant.

For the finishing touches, get a little cake for your daughter and a big one for everyone else. Get some clothes that'll either be easy to clean or easy to throw away (or just put her in a diaper and let her go naked) and let her dive into the cake. Put her face in it, eat it with her hands, whatever! It's so cute to watch, everyone will love it (except maybe whoever has to clean up after!)
Reply:We did pink teddy bears and balloons for my little girl. It was cute and easy to find decorations.
Reply:Honestly, i dont see the point of a first birthday party. She is to young to remember it.First birthdays are more for you and your family to celebrate her birth. just enjoy your time with her, reflect on the past year and all the joy she brought you, write her a letter that she can read when she is older. of course you have to get her a cake cause that would just be fun to watch her try to eat it and make a big mess :)
Reply:Well my son is turning one year old on the 16th of this month. We are doing a Cars theme because he loves that movie. We are inviting family and friends with kids his age. We are getting a big Cars cake for him to have his 1 year old candle on and a smaller one for him to demolish. We will be having ice cream to go with the cake, hot dogs, hamburgers and a big pizza for the adults. He will have a chance to open presents after cake. The party will be from 2-4 pm because that falls between his naps.
